Labor conditions from pre-industrial times to industrial times were almost two completely different worlds. The common workers and even some masters were forced to change their entire lives to adapt to an industrial life style. The only common ground between pre-industrial and industrial labor conditions was that each style had tremendous hardships and painstakingly difficult work. Daily life in pre-industrial times was centered around the home. As most people were rural farmers, they made their livings and spent most of the time working on the farm. (Wiesner 144) Document 1 stresses this point as it discusses how important and focused life was around the farm. (Wiesner 152) While this did create strong family bonds amongst individual families, it did nothing to encourage technological and societal advancement.
