Learning Mindsets

Over the school years, there are two types of mind sets that students develop towards learning. One is known as the fixed mind-set, while the other is known as the growth mind-set. In the following text I will elaborate what each mind-set is exactly about.

The fixed mind-set is a mind-set that develops out of a student's ego. Usually it is the case where a certain student seems to possess the upper hand in a certain subject at a specific time in life. The student because of his or her superiority and as well because of the teachers and classmates over excessive praise could develop the idea that he or she is intrinsically astute regarding the subject and beliefs he or she will really ...

a short period of time because their goals in school is to receive praise from their surroundings and feel on top of everything. Those students who adopt this mind set will remain stagnant with regards their enhancement at an academic level.

The other type of mind set is known within psychology as growth mind set. The students defined by this mind set are those who have rarely felt superior in their school environment or have felt very superior in their area of interest, but really appreciate the value of learning and always set goals beyond their current limits. Those students who adopt this mind set love to learn from their mistakes and appreciate their mistakes and the fact they are humans bound to make mistakes no matter how intelligent they seem. These are the students who excel and hold significant positions in life.
