Leisure

Leisure, no less than work, played an important part in the lives of Elizabethans. Leisure gave people freedom to pursue their hobby without worry. Hobbies of people varied according to the class. Rich people went haunting and do other recreational activities and did what all the general population did for pleasure but for lower class, their hobbies were theatre, music, dancing, sports and pursuing their occasional literary desire like reading plays, technical works, religious writing, ballads, almanacs, histories, and even news-sport and shared occasional short jokes with each other. especially in the Theaters in London. The many genres and new plays were introduced, that enlivened the field of theatre and acting. Later the paly started to get published by various publications. Theatrical performances took place in the courtyards of large inns. Fist public theatre was built in 1576 outside city limits, to escape the stringent regulations imposed by harsh city authorities. The plays were attended by all manners of people. The cost of attendance was one penny. The plays were performed by the people living wondering life, unattached to any employer or household. There were also a plenty of minor performers, part-time folk players, puppeteers, acrobats and other entertainers in that time. There used to be a occasional musical shows in town. Major towns had official musician known as `waits', who sometimes gave free music concerts for the local peoples.
