Leonardo Da Vinci


was one of the greatest inventors and scientist ever. His genius was unbounded by time and technology, and was driven by his curiosity, and his intuitive sense of the laws of nature. He was an internationally popular inventor, scientist, engineer, architect, painter, sculptor, mathematician, musician, anatomist, astronomer, geologist, biologist, and philosopher in his time.
He was born in 1452 as a son of Ser piero da Vinci. Young Leonardo was sent to Florence in his teens to apprentice as a painter under Andrea del Verrocchio. They are, a "Nativity" said to have belonged to Emperor Maximilian, a "Madonna" that Ludovico Sforza announced as a gift to the Hungarian king Matthias Corvinus, and the portrait of one of Ludovico's mistresses, Lucrezea Crivelli.
Throughout his life he also served various other roles, including civil engineer and architect (designing mechanical structures such as bridges and aqueducts), and military planner and weapons designer (designing rudimentary tanks, catapults, machine guns, and even navel weapons).
Da Vinci, during the 1400's made incredible strides in the area of science and invention. Still, at that time no one appreciated him for his marvelous efforts. It is hard to imagine what type of modern life we would have if it was not for Da Vinci's initial sketches and incredible brainstorms.
