Dear Mom and Dad,

Hi Mom and Dad, how are things on the farm? Have you heard from Laura yet? She still hasn’t wrote me anything since I left for the war. Are the kids doing ok? They arent giving you any trouble are they? Before I say anything else can you check up on Laura for me please?

Well if your wondering, im doing fine actually, the living conditions in No man’s land arent what im used to back home but its better than nothing. Its really cold out here, I wish I was at home back on the farm in the warm house. I should be coming home soon, cant wait to see all of my family again, that will be the happiest day of my ...

On Feburary 22nd , 1916 the commander-in-chief General Erich von Falkenhayn was awarded a Iron Cross for completing a mission successfully. To me he’s a great commander-in-chief, I think he deseverd that award. The last thing I have on my mind is seeing another tommy being killed in front of me. I hope soon that my leg gets better so I can go back to the front or be a quartermaster. I do wish to come home and be with you all again like all times, but duty called me and im here to serve my country. Tell my kids their daddy will be home very soon, well that’s all I have for today, hope this letters get there fast, I missed you, see you soon.
