Life In Victorian England


In Victorian England, life was characterized differently among the
lower class, middle class, and upper class. The characteristics in the
three classes were based on the occupation of the household. The early
Victorian’s main characteristic achievement was the building of the
railways. Each of the three classes had its own point of view about life
and achievement in the future. In this essay I shall convey that life in
Victorian England was different among the three classes, some had
advantages while others had disadvantages. Life is mostly always
characterized into three different groups that consist of different
lifestyles.

were only seasonal. The lower class would have jobs such as picking cotton
in a cotton field, working in factories, or search sewers for what they
could find. Some parents made children stay up until 11 or 12 PM to finish
up their stitching. Both boys and girls had to work at a young age because
they had the necessity of getting every possible penny into the household.
Children that did not attend school or work spent their time on the streets.
Children worked many hours for very little pay and in some cases they
would become severely ill and have instant deaths.
One of the main problems in the lower class was unemployment. Most
of the lower class consisted of people who had no hope of ever doing more
than picking up a few weeks of money here and there. Town life in the
lower class was not healthy without sanitation and the water supplies were
in worst conditions than the sanitation. People in the lower class had to
use the good water for drinking and ...

The school
education and exhibitions or sizarships to the university were paid for out
of the founder’s endowments, so as long as a child’s parents could keep
them and forgo their earnings, the child did not have to find any other
money for expenses. Since there weren’t enough grammar schools some
parents sent their children to private school. Private schools were
profit-making institutions which supplied the materials that a customer
wanted. In school the girls were treated worst than the boys because they
believed that boys needed more education than the girls did. For that
