Life Of Charles Robert Darwin


Charles Robert Darwin was born February 12, 1809. He was the fifth child, and was born in the west of England in a little country town. The house was named The Mount. Charles’ father Robert was the town doctor, and was both liked and respected by his patients. Charles’ mother Susannah Darwin was the daughter of Josiah Wedgwood. She had inherited good business sense from her father; his company , which made Wedgwood China is well known today.

No Science was taught, and perhaps the only thing he felt joy in was famous literature. He read all the great works of Shakespeare, enjoying them immensely.
When Charles was 16 he was sent off to Edinburgh University in Scotland. Like the rest of the men in his family, his family he was to become a doctor. Erasmus attended there as well. He also was to be doctor. Unlike his younger brother, he liked the idea. Charles and Erasmus found a place to stay together in Edinburgh. Charles and his brother were well like in Scotland. Their friends included Sir Walter Scott, and John Audobon.
