Hero's journey or `monomyth', is a pattern of storytelling which is argued to be used in many narratives around the world. This pattern was described by Joseph Campbell's book `The Hero with a Thousand Faces'. He also discusses his purpose is to reveal the underlying structure of the myth and to help understand why different cultures perceive a myth in different ways(Campbell). Joseph Campbell's Monomyth structure can be used to analyze Disney Channel's "The Lion King" by examining the character of Simba as he moves through Departure, Trials and Victories, and The Return.
