How do they work?

Speakers work by converting electrical energy into one that can be heard, which is sound energy. They tend to contain electromagnets, just as many other circuits do. These electromagnets transmit magnetic fields around in when an electric current flows through. This electromagnet also allows the current to be switched around within it, thus flipping the poles of the magnet, which, in turn, reverses the direction of the current of the whole circuit. The electromagnet is always placed in front of a permanent magnet, which can be seen in figure 1, where the electromagnet is labelled as part 2, and the permanent magnet part 3. and allow the amplified sound to be heard. The frequency of these vibrations determine the pitch at which sound is produced by the speaker, which, in turn, determines how much the sound is amplified. Comparison to a DC Motor

Structure

The loudspeaker is similar to a DC Motor in its structure. A DC Motor contains an original power source, as does the DC Motor. Also, in between the power source and the part of the circuit that makes the circuit so efficient (i.e the part that rotates in the DC Motor produced electricity, and the cone which amplifies sound in the loudspeaker), there is a device that can reverse the direction of the current, as well as have some freedom in movement, in order to allow the circuit to function as it should.
