Macbeth- Ambition And Hamartea


In the play Macbeth the three witches present the prophasies and apparitions to Macbeth, and Banquo. The apparitions and prophasies convert Macbeth's role from good to evil, they play on Macbeth's hamartea of ambition, and they also confuse Macbeth.
First of all Macbeth's role from good to evil is converted by the three prophasies of the three witches. The three prophasies are Macbeth is the Thane of Glamis, Thane of Cawdor and Macbeth soon to be king of Scotland. When Macbeth was presented with these three prophasies another Thane named Banquo is at his side. Banquo asks if they would have any prophasies for him. come up with a plan to kill the present king of Scotland, King Duncan. Macbeth had just killed a traitor who rebelled against the king and now he is planning to kill the king! The death of the king is blamed on the king's guards so Macbeth kills them to save his own behind. What a traitor, he deserves to be slained and he should be beheaded!
Secondly Macbeth's hamartea of ambition blinds him from seeing where he lye as the new King of Scotland. Instead Macbeth remembers the third and last prophase of Banquo. It was that Banquo would not be king but he shall be the father of kings. The idea that Macbeth will not be the father of kings, really made him jealous and angry of Banquo. Macbeth decides that the best thing to do is to kill Banquo. His hamartea of ambition kills Banquo because of one prophase! Not only did he want to kill Banquo but also Banquo's son Fleance.
