when she is through Macbeth says,” If we should fail?” (I, vii, 58) Lady Macbeth answers by saying,” We fail… but screw your courage to the sticking place and we’ll not fail.” (I, vii, 59-60) I think she is trying to give him confidence, telling him to be calm and everything will go just fine. Another reason I think she influences him is when she says,” What beast was’t, then, that made you break this enterprise to me?… And dashed the brains out, had I so sworn as you have done to this.” What she says is that she would kill and infant child before she broke her word to Macbeth yet he doesn’t seem to care about breaking a promise that he made to her. She is trying to make him feel guilty about breaking his promise to her.
