Oblivious to Evil
“Evil is done without effort, naturally, it is the working of fate” as said by Charles Baudelaire. In the play Macbeth, written by William Shakespeare, Macbeth is, in fact, an evil statement. Although, Macbeth didn’t plan to be evil, it was fate given to him by the witches, his wife, and his deep desire to become king of Scotland.
To start, Macbeth was a very noble man until the witches had the prophecies influence him. They were the ones who originally introduced the idea of Macbeth becoming the King of Scotland. of her father. This problem was then put onto Macbeth. He was degraded of his masculinity by his wife and didn’t want to seem like less of a man than her. Ultimately, he was manipulated by his wife and forced to kill king Duncan, turning him into an evil man.
Lastly, Macbeth’s desire to be king influenced him to turn evil in the long run. It was the source of his evil throughout the play; however, he only wanted to be king because the witches said it was his fate. To become king, Macbeth had to kill anyone who was in his way of it. He shows this when he kills king Duncan. He was very power hungry and in the end, he was no longer the noble man he once was. He was a new man filled with violence, greed, anger, and mainly, evil.
