The idea of having 10 fingers on each hand would make for beautiful music and great piano play. The Old Woman was right by saying they would be in the way. Imagine having 10 fingers and no thumbs, it would be difficult to pick up items and it would make for expensive gloves. So by deciding to have 4 fingers and a thumb on each hand the old woman improved upon the idea of hands and our use of them.
The next idea that was improved upon by the Old Woman was the idea of life and death. The old Man wanted people to die for four days and then come to life again. While this idea sounds great in theory, could you imagine the overpopulation in the world. The consumption that would take place in a world where people didn’t die forever would be catastrophic.
