According to “The American Heritage Dictionary,” a tragedy is-a dramatic work depicting a protagonist engaged in a significant struggle ending in ruin or profound disappointment. When looking at this definition, two of the main elements of a tragedy are obvious. A protagonist would represent the character element and the plot element is represented by the significant struggle ending in ruin.
