Movie - Dead Man Walking: Capital Punishment

In the movie "Dead Man Walking," the issue of Capital Punishment is
portrayed in many ways.The first way it is portrayed is when the condemned
man is found guilty of rape and murder. This verdict springs a complete
change in the killer's life. The killer now feels totally different then
he did when he committed the crime. Then the Sister comes in to be the
spiritual director and guider of the condemned man. She feels that he is a
compassionate man, and that death is not the proper treatment for the
condemned. She feels that he has had a complete change since he has been
condemned to die.

Sister in their home at any time.

At the beginning of the movie, Sister Jean feels completely
different than she does at the end of the movie. Early in the movie,
Sister feels somewhat afraid, and does not feel like she wants to help out
with his case. But after Sister agreed to have a private session with the
killer, she changes her mind, and agrees to help him out. Sister starts to
talk to the killer, and shes a different side of the killer that no one
else has seen. She sees a man of compassion, a man of care, and a man who
is really sorry for the crimes that he committed. Sister decides to become
the spiritual director of the killer after a few sessions she has with the
killer. And even though Sister can not get the execution held off or even
stopped completely, she sees a man of compassion, sorrow, and care.
