The type of family in Lion King is an extended family. Mufasa's family extends beyond the nuclear family, including an uncle, and other relatives, who all live nearby or in one place. Simba's parents also fulfill all the functions of the family we have previously learned. For example, Mufasa was able to maintain order within his family by telling Simba his rights from wrongs.
