Music Saves Lives

I believe music helps make a difference in people's lives. I remember in middle school, my friend Molly and I were bullied. All we had were eachother. I told her everything and she did the same to me. We got through the other children's nasty comments together. Suddenly, she became popular and left me behind. I'd never felt so alone, until I was introduced to music. It helped me get through the hard times. Music was my only friend and I wouldn't be here without it.
I remember girl's saying ridiculous things to Molly and I. They said things like "I bet they share the same underwear." Obviously, it wasn't true but I was still embarassed. Molly told me to just ignore it, what did it matter ...

I wasn't alone. The lyrics seemed to describe exactly how I felt. It was like none of my problems existed anymore. I felt connected to the music. It helped knowing that these famous people once felt like I did.
The next day when the girl's started picking on me again, I reminded myself that I wouldn't be stuck in middle school forever. Never give in, never back down. When you're life feels lost, fight against all odds. I chanted those lyrics in my head, feeling alot better when I did. I hadn't realized it then, but music would become a huge part of my life.
Of course, what people said still got to me. I'd been in tears and ready to take a razor to my skin when 'Knives And Pens' came on my playlist. One final fight for this tonight. (Whoa) With knives and pens we've made our plight. The song was about the path of destruction and the path of creativity. It was about how you could choose your own path. So instead of harming myself, I wrote about how I felt and it made me feel alot ...
