Everyone expected the summer after senior year to be incredible. It was our last summer together, my friends and I wanted it to be unforgettable. My six best friends and I had grown even closer than before during the school year, so we expected to be inseparable all summer long. We soon found out that our summer would be unforgettable, but not in the way we wanted it too. One of my best friends, Laura, spent a good part of her summer in the hospital, due to anorexia. and made no effort to ever hide her emotions or problems. Overall, Laura had a great personality and always knew how to cheer any one of us up. All of this began to change after our best friend Lauren confessed that she had an eating disorder.
This news surprised us all. Lauren was really skinny, but so was her entire family. She always ate a lot, so we never suspected a problem. It made us all really upset, but Laura seemed to have a different view of Lauren's problem. I don't know if she was competing for attention or if she really wanted to lose weight, but Laura soon became obsessed with her weight. She went on diet after diet trying to lose weight. Instead of eating sensibly, she began eating less and less, until she was down to eating only diet bars and Diet Coke.
