Introduction
Why should we study the names and titles of God?
To undertake a serious study of the names and titles of God is so that we may come to know God better. To know him more fully is the journey of a lifetime.
Our prayer life is enriched by having meditated on God's names, titles, and metaphors. For example, as I've studied about God as my Shepherd, I find myself calling on God in prayer as my Shepherd, trusting him to supply my needs and to guide me.
These three factors listed below will help us in understanding the enrichments of names of God.

As we learn his names and meditate on them, we will come to know him more intimately. We will begin to trust him more fully. And we will find our hearts drawn ever more passionately to do his will here on earth as it is in heaven. And so I invite you to undertake a journey with me to explore God by means of his names.

Lester Sumrall in his book, "The Names of God" stated: This book discusses some of the Hebrew names for God, names used in the Old Testament. He stated that we should also look at the name of God's Son, Jesus Christ, who is God incarnate, God in the flesh. The names of Jesus tell us about His character when he ministered on this earth. The name of Jesus reminds us God's great love for us.
