In Homer's The Odyssey, written down in approximately 700 BCE the story is about a hero named Odysseus who was fighting in the Trojan war. After the war ended Odysseus has to make a long epic journey home to see his wife Penelope and his son Telemachus. On his journey he is trapped by an evil Cyclops in his cave. Odysseus being the cunning hero he is tricks the Cyclops and then blinds him. After that Odysseus faces cirens, evil creatures, he also has to go against gods to make it home. Odysseus, an epic hero proves himself to be Faithful - determined, Cunning/ clever, physically powerful, gentle, and patient. Odysseus uses these traits throughout the story to navigate his way home. ...

When they were passing the sirens, he showed his determinism by making the men tie him up to the raft so he could hear the sirens. "They tied me up, then, plumb amidships..." There are many examples of Odysseus being cunning throughout The Odyssey. One example is when Odysseus plans the Wooden Horse in order to sneak into the enemies' territory. Then he attacks the town which helps him win the war.
