The speaker meets a traveler from an antique land; the antique land is Egypt. The traveler described a sculpture to the speaker as “two vast and trunkless legs of stone.” The statue had been broken with only the legs left. The speaker describes the features of the face and they represent the true personality of Ozymandias. His personality was cruel and very powerful. On the pedestal of what was left of the statue, Ozymandias was declared as being “king of kings.” Nothing of the statue remains because of the power of nature. “The lone and level sands stretch far away,” shows nature's power and that no one can ever control it.
