Personal Writing: Childhood Invents That Influenced Me



Childhood is a time when everybody is affected by incidents which
remain with them during their entire lives. There were many events in my
childhood, and some of them left no impact on my life. With some, I can’t
exactly say if they happened or were just my imagination, occurring only
in my dreams. Only a few events truly influenced my attitude toward the
surrounding world. One of them occurred when I was six-years-old.
I don’t know what attracted me to the company of children much
older than I was. Maybe it was because they seemed independent, could
stay in the streets at night, and were afraid of nothing, unlike me. They
all called each other by nicknames, and I had one, too. It ...

very brave, including me. However, in the depth of my heart, I was afraid
of darkness. That’s why each time I returned home I did not walk, but ran
with the feeling that heroes of the stories would come alive and make
terrible trouble for me.
I don’t remember how long these story-telling sessions went on,
maybe a few months during the summer. It was so interesting to listen
while holding my breath and feeling horror in my heart. Later, I
understood that my so called "companions" knew about my fear, and one day
they played a trick on me.
It was late evening. I was returning home after a “ghost” meeting.
Suddenly, an elusive moment behind the tree attracted my attention. I
increased my speed. It was just a few meters to my home. At that moment,
I saw a Black Hand coming toward me, hissing, “Black Hand will catch you.”
Even now after thirteen years, I still remember what I felt as if it were
