Edgar Allan Poe is the epitome of American Poetry. With his eloquent rhymes, and story-like poems, he paints a vivid picture of the world he wishes to immerse you in. Poe was born in 1809 in Boston, Massachusetts. His mother died at a very young age, and his father walked out on the family. He lived with his pseudo-family, The Allans, whom never formally adopted him but loved him just the same. After being discharged from the army, Poe left his family and went out to work on his own. He attempted to make a living based only on his writing, which left him living a poor and destitute lifestyle.
