There are many types of power generations, but one specific is a Nuclear Power Plant. The nuclear power plant generates water. There are many disadvantages, and many advantages to this power generation.
Nuclear plants, like plants that burn coal, oil and natural gas, produce electricity by boiling water into steam. This steam then turns turbines to produce electricity. The difference is that nuclear plants do not burn anything. Instead, they use uranium fuel, consisting of solid ceramic pellets, to produce electricity through a process called fission. The steam goes through a turbine, which spins the whole generator to create electricity.
There are two types of nuclear power plants. Nuclear power plants are either boiling or pressurized water reactors. The boiling water reactors heat the water surrounding the nuclear fuel straight into the steam. The pipes take the steam straight to the turbine and the electric generator produces the electricity.
While the pressurized water reactors also heat the water surrounding the nuclear fuel, but keeps the water under pressure to keep it from boiling. The hot water is pumped from the reactor vessel to a steam generator. The heat from the water is transferred to a second, separate supply of water. This water supply boils to make steam. The steam spins the turbine and drives the electric generator to produce the electricity. Both boiling and pressurized water reactors are cooled by water.
