Power has always had a major role in international politics as an influence. Specifically when dealing with international relations power can intimidate and provoke undesirable actions on states. Power can also make a state powerful but has the same ability to completely destroy a state.
One big example of power and its influence is Turkey’s current relationship with the Arab world. For years Turkey’s top trading partner has been the European Union. However, Turkey has recently shown interesting in investing in Arab countries. To understand Turkey’s current situation we will have to focus on a systemic level of analysis.

Furthermore, Turkey has also come closer to other countries like Kuwait and Qatar exporting all kind of goods. This idea of soft power used by Turkey has greatly helped it to develop a more close relation with Arab countries. In contrast to Turkey, the US used a mix military might (Hard Power) and diplomacy/trade (Soft Power). Consequently Arab countries have developed a sentiment of rejection towards the US.
Another example of hard and soft power influence can be seen in Ivory Coast recent presidential scandal, where Laurent Gbagbo ex president of Ivory Coast refuses to admit his defeat in November's poll and cede power.
