Following the September 11, 2001 attack, George W. Bush authorized warrantless surveillance to attempt to catch terrorists that may be plotting. He did so by wiretapping into international phone calls, emails, faxes, instant messages, websites, and other methods of communication, in violation of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). In December 2005, New York Times broke the story and it had millions of civilians outraged. It had many people questioning their constitutional rights as US. Citizens.

Citizens are worried because something that is as unconstitutional as this can slip through the cracks and are left to wonder what else the government may be hiding.
Although it’s clear Bush had his country’s best interest, it still could have been constitutional. As president, he was supposed to set a good example. It was possible to get the warrant and to do this legally but he chose not to. If just because he’s president, means he can override the constitution, that means were not a real democracy and were facing tyranny.
