There are several academic and personal reasons why I desire to pursue graduate education. First, I have always been extremely fascinated by the legal system. Of the numerous occupations available to individuals, the criminal justice system is one of the few areas that impacts (both directly and indirectly) every single member of society. Obtaining a graduate degree in criminal justice will give me a chance to enhance the invaluable knowledge I obtained during my undergraduate education.

with juvenile offenders, which will give me an opportunity to influence their lives and perhaps to rehabilitate them. What is particularly unique about juvenile offenders is that the opportunity for rehabilitation appears to be greater than it is for adult offenders. By using the knowledge and skills I will obtain during my graduate education in criminal justice, I will be able to determine which methods of treatment are more effective than others while gaining practical experience.
In summary, there are numerous reasons why I wish to pursue graduate studies in criminal justice. Of the variety of careers available, few provide individuals with an opportunity to directly influence someone else's life.
