Realism
I will be discussing two different perspectives in the literary movement called “”. I have chosen a great writer from both “Regionalism” and “Naturalism”, which are subcategories of . By choosing two writers, I will be able to compare and contrast the writings of each.

Jack London, a Naturalist, lost his father at a young age and had to cope. He also witnessed first-hand, the casualties of the California Gold Rush. “Buck did not read newspapers, or else he would have known that trouble was brewing, not only for himself, but every dog.” (P.488). Brett Harte, a Regionalist, lived in many places in his lifetime, including: Albany, New York, California, Germany, Scotland and London. While moving around, he was able to clearly see the different lifestyles between groups of people. “In point of fact, Poker Flat was after somebody”.
Both authors wrote very vividly as we see in their works.
