The Baroque: Rembrandt and Rubens

The composition of Baroque art was subjective for religious purpose as it defined the strength of Catholicism. Baroque art also used a painting style known as tenebrism which was also called dramatic illumination. This is a style of painting which had the contrast of light and dark. Baroque art also had characteristics of naturalistic details, little to no inconography, attention to the exact and spatial values. The stories in these painting were happening in the space and time of the viewer. (Kleiner, 2009.)

He showed diplomacy in this painting by including symbols which represented the Concord, Peace, Harmony and the Christian world.
