I have finished reading The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien. I found it an okay book but I will get into that later. First I will give a summary of what happened since my last letter.
The end of the group's journey is almost over. They have ventured to Smaug's mountain and set up camp near the secret entrance. The secret door can only be opened using a special key, which was found with a map and then given to the group by Gandalf. Once the group has opened the door, they send Bilbo in to scout the insides of the mountain. Bilbo is terrified of Smaug so he takes a handful of treasure and runs away back into the tunnel. Once he reaches the camp he falls down because he is so tired. Everyone is amazed by the treaseure and they all go to sleep dreaming of what other treasures are in the mountain. During the night Smaug wakes up and finds out that a handful of treasure has gone missing. He storms out of the mountain in rage, burning everything on the mountain, except for Bilbo and his friend. He sent rocks flying down the mountain which forced the group to flee into the tunnel. They waited for about three days until they sent Bilbo into the treasure room again. This time when he went in he stole the Arkenstone. He then returned back into the tunnel. That night Smaug left the cave and went to destroy Laketown.
