Male Ring-necked Ducks are known to be a little bit bigger than a female. On the bill of a male it has two white rings which are very visible. Its head is a very shiny black, there are white lines on the wings, the breast is white, the feet are greyish blue and they have yellow eyes.
A female Ring-necked Duck has a greyish brown head and body with a dark brown back and a dark bill. The feet of a female are greyish blue and the eyes are brown with a white ring surrounding them that leads to the back of her head. The weight of a Ring-neck is about 2 pounds and the wingspan ranges to about 16 Inches. The average life span of a Ring-necked duck is about 10 years.
They feed by putting their head in the water or by dabbing the surface of the water. Ring-necks eat plants that are submerged in water such as leaves, stems, seeds, wild rice, lilies, and sedges. Also, they eat earthworms, leeches, mollusks and shalls. As adult ...
