This is universally shown in children’s cinema (creating what could easily be called the “Disney Delusion”), and thus leaked into Hollywood’s twisted reality, hence every romantic comedy ever made. All frivolous and formulaic, these films have a great effect on the way we, first as children, then as adults, view society.
Adolescence is, in a great sense, when a child begins to trust her own senses, taking in the world for the first time not according to what society has told her, not at face value, but according to her own experience, her own emotional encounters, deductions and findings—the Enlightenment, the Great Awakening.
