Themes:
- Parenthood : Lady Capulet is indecisive about whether to keep the Nurse in the room when she talks to Juliet about marriage. Ends up keeping her because she believes her relationship with her daughter is strained/weak. Nurse's is better. (Lines 8-11)
- Division Between Age - Lady Capulet regards Juliet as a child(immature) currently but if she marries then she will become an adult(mature) and she also says there are younger mothers in Verona. (Line 71-73).
- Bawdiness : The nurse tells the story of Juliet falling on her back as a child twice because she finds it so funny. She finds it funny because Juliet agrees that she will be on her back ...

Characterisation:
- Nurse : Has a lot of love for Julie and regards her as her daughter. Brings up Juliet's late sister Susan. She knows Juliet really well as she repeatedly says Juliet is not 14. (Lines 17-22) Loves to talk at length (Like Mercutio) and brings a bawdy aspect to the play.
- Juliet : Her name suggests "Jewel" which Romeo compares her to throughout the play. We first see Juliet as a quiet and obedient daughter. Says she will have a look at Paris but doubts whether that will make her love him. (Lines 98-100).
- Lady Capulet : We learn that she was a very young bride which is why she is urging Juliet to get married. Her relationship with her daughter isn't as strong as it should ...
