In William Shakespeare's tragic drama Romeo and Juliet, two star crossed lovers risk everything to be together, despite their families longtime feud. This play reveals much about the culture of the fifteenth century, with Shakespeare's various uses of social, and gender thinking during this time period. Shakespeare’s upbringing during this era, exposes him to the patriarchal society that he writes about in Romeo and Juliet.
