“Nobody ever bossed Rosa around and got away with it,” says a childhood friend of Rosa Parks. She was a strong woman that everyone should follow as a role model. She was born in Montgomery on February 4, 1913 and just recently died in 2005 as a 92-year old woman. Most people only remember her as “the girl, who didn’t give up her seat on the bus,” which is true, but there is much more to it. Not only did she not give up her seat but she stood up for what she believed in, she fought for what’s right, and she proved that one person can make a difference.

what she felt she wanted to do. Most people think that all she did was not get up from her seat, and how did that help anything? But, in the 1920s in Montgomery, The buses demanded that blacks enter from the rear and stay there, and if the bus got full the blacks would have to give up their seat for the whites, and if the rules were not followed, there would be horrible consequences. And Rosa Parks went against the rules and got the horrible consequences, but it was worth it. She helped many understand how to stand up for what is right.
Most people think that if you are only one person then there is no chance that you can change anything. But look at Rosa Parks, one person, one belief, and changed hundreds of lives, from the 1920s all the way until the present. It does not have to take one hundred people to change something; it doesn’t even need to take ten. It only takes one person with a strong belief and nothing else.
