The Scarlet Letter: Misconstrued Identity Of Hester Prynne



Often in exceptional works of literature, the identities of of
charactrers are misconstrued so that readers are unclear of the thoughts
and intentions of these characters. Hester Prynne of Nathaniel Hawthorne's
The Scarlet Letter is no different. Hester Prynne is not entirely as she
may seem. The reader may still be unclear of Hesters thoughts even after
reading the book.
Hester is introduced to the reader as a devout Puritan with the
exception of her sin of adultry. She appears to be acceptant of her her sin
and the reprucutions that followed it, but is Hester truly repentant of her
sin. Throughout the book the reader may percieve Hester to be repentent
