The invention of antibiotics brought a new meaning to lifespan and quality of life. Before the advent of antibiotics people would easily die of common respiratory infections or cuts to the foot or hand. The person would get a cut on their body and if it got infected that person could become ill, and eventually die with little hope for being saved. When antibiotics were invented it changed the way mankind viewed illness and injury for good. No longer do we quarantine those who have illnesses the way we did in the past. They are not required to stop existing in society for fear of contaminating others. Today, they can be given a course of antibiotics and the infection will be eliminated. People are no longer afraid to be around them because if the worst happens and they catch the infection from the infected person they too can take a course of antibiotics and be healed.
