In "The life and adventures of shed 12" Victor Pelevin comically uses manmade objects to create a fictional depiction of the psychology of post-World War 1 Russia. In this short story, a shed named Shed XII is the infantile protagonist that wants to become a red bike. Shed XII is the property of a simple farmer but later on he becomes a food storage shed filled with pickled goods that sicken him.
