The three members of Australia's Silverchair aren't high school boys anymore. Really, it doesn't brother me that these little Aussie fellas made a friggin' mint doing a cute little Nirvanable grunge act back when they were 14 years old. Hey, good, just like winning the lottery, boys, you hit the jackpot, good for you. What does brother me, though is that like those people who hit it big, win a million and then keep their job at McDonalds, these assholes won't give it up. They just keep dealing out the vitamin-challenged, fast food rock long after the "ahh, ain't they cute" bit has worn off.

Silverchair's leader Daniel Johns has been thinking long and hard about what's happening today, and through he's made a killing off the record biz and never has to work another day in his life, he's decided to lead a youth revolt against "overweight people in suits": hence, "Anthem For the Year 2000," complete with a Siverchair countdown calendar. "We are the youth/We'll take your fascism…. In the year 2000," he howls, Hetfield-like. How he proposes that "the youth" do this, however, is left unanswered. Some people actually hoping the Y2K bug actually does disable world communications for a few years isolating the Land Down Under until these guys decide to find something more constructive to do.
Of course, the goodies just keep on coming. To create valid hard-rock n' roll in this day and age is a trick that only talented performer like Marilyn Manson can pull off, requiring a fine balance ...
