A lot of the characters in Simon Birch are important but the two most important are Simon and Joe. Joe was a dynamic character because in the beginning he was regular kid, he had no faith and belief in God. After his mom died he had to find out who his dad was, since his mom was the only one who knew no one else in the town knew either. I believe Joe found his faith once Simon helped all those kids, after he died I think some of Simon’s faith had rubbed off on Joe in the end. Joe’s importance was critical in the movie since the story was told on his flashback and memory of the times he had with Simon.
Probably the setting that impacted the movie the most was the church. ...

was shown in Adult Joe’s car window. That was what I think the biggest role the church because I believe that was a symbol that through Simon, Joe had found his faith.
Although there were a lot of dramatic climaxes the bus wreck was the biggest. Then that happened, that whole scene I was on the edge of my seat, wondering what was going to happen. Once the bus went into the water Simon knew that his destiny now was to help everyone on the bus, even the little ones survive. He knew that because of his size the kids would listen to him so he could help them and himself get out of that bad situation. When Simon started speaking to everyone (the kids) on the bus all the kids stopped crying and listened to him. That was a big advantage for him being that size because they wouldn’t stay calm whenever Joe was trying to get them to be quiet.
