South Africa Under Apartheid

Introduction

I chose South Africa under apartheid as the topic of my project.

My research question was divided into two parts:

First, how did apartheid affect the international relationship between the Israeli and South African governments?
Secondly, did apartheid affect the Jewish community in South Africa?

I chose this research question for two reasons:

The first reason was that I had seen a program on the life story of Nelson Mandela and I was intrigued by this distinguished and great man. I wanted to learn more about what had motivated him to act.

Specifically because of the similarities of the Apartheid laws to the Nuremberg Laws in Nazi Germany of the 1930s.

I am planning to do a research about the effect that apartheid had on; the relationship between the Israeli and South African governments and how the policy of apartheid affected the Jewish community in South Africa.

My main sources will come from the internet and from movies about the subject.

19th century the English began settling in colonies in the area of Cape Town, which had previously been a station of the Dutch East India Company, making it an English colony in 1805.
