To Baruch Spinoza nature is everything. Molecules, atoms, people, thought, mass, societies, galaxies, and life is all a part of nature. There is nothing outside of nature and that includes spiritual visions that we don't understand. If it exists, then it is a part of nature. Spinoza claimed that for God to make any sense whatsoever He must simply be nature and he cannot be something outside nature that controls it all, but must be a part of it somewhat. As we each depend on the environment for air, food, and companionship, we can never be 100% dependent of it nor would we want to be.
