Because Polynices was fighting to overtake Thebes, Creon makes a law against his burial; he wants Polynices body to rot in open air. “ No, he must be left unburied, his corpse carrion for the birds and dogs to tear, an obscenity for the citizens to behold!” (Sophocles 636).
