BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Only about a decade or so ago, access to technology in classrooms was very limited. Getting schools wired was one of the nations highest education priorities ( Valdez, 2005). This statistic has drastically improved with the implementation of major technology use in the majority of the nation’s schools. Virtually every school with access to computers now has Internet access, this is compared to only 35 percent of schools having access to the internet in 1994 ( Valdez, 2005 ). Also much progress has been made in expanding Internet access in classrooms lowering student to computer ratio drastically.
