A majority of the studies available with regard to Thai business suggest that the cosmetics industry is the most lucrative industry in Thailand today. The cosmetic industry is expected to grow by as much as 20-25 percent in recent years (DBE, 2003). The political climate and legal system in Thailand currently supports growth and security within this industry. There is slow progress toward utilization of E-Commerce in the country, however the commercial community in Thailand is for the most part computer literate (Davidson, 2003). Generally cosmetics sales and exports have been successful in Thailand without reliance on E-Commerce.
Currently in Thailand the Department of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce is in charge of monitoring and regulating all counter trade transactions (Davidson, 2003). Thailand is considered a potential gateway to South East Asia for both exports and investment, thus a lucrative and promising market for any business, cosmetics or otherwise (Davidson, 2003).
Currently in Thailand there are three forms of corporate structure recognized including: the sole proprietorship, partnership and a limited corporation (USCS, 2004). Any company name has to be registered with the Ministry of Commerce (USCS, 2004).
