to spend their money elsewhere, not investing in expensive cars. On the other hand, if the same person sees someone else driving down the road in a brand new Dodge Charger, they might think ‘wow that person must have a huge house and a lot of money’. But they might be totally wrong again. That person might have won the car in a contest and in reality have no money and no job.
People judge others based on what they own and how much money they have to blow. According to Switchfoot, in their song American Dream, “when success is equated with excess” is a great definition of the American Dream (“Switchfoot”). Everyone wants to be successful, but there is no defined point that lets you know when you have reached success. Most people think they have reached success when they are content with life and when they do not want much else.
