The Book of Thel

The selection from the Romantic era I chose to read was William Blake’s, The Book of Thel. I found the story in the Norton Anthology, where it said that the date shown on the story was 1789, but that most likely extended to 1791 (Blake 1425).
The protagonist of this story is Thel. Originally, it was hard to me to tell whether or not Thel was an actual human, or just a representation of a virgin being. However, throughout reading the poem and analyzing it more in depth, I came to the conclusion that Thel was, in fact, a mythical creature of sorts.
