Cyber bullying is not the only thing that happens to people on the internet. Cyber stalking can happen to anybody at anytime. National figures show victims of cyber stalking tend to be females during the college ages 18-29 but women are not the only targets. A survey of 765 students at Rutgers University and the University of Pennsylvania found 45 percent of stalkers to be female and 56 percent to be male. National figures show most stalkers to be male by overwhelming margins (87 percent.) them in a public place and when this occurs most people do not come back home. The stalkers kidnap them and do whatever they desire with them. This is a growing problem in the world today and it really needs to be stopped. One good way parents could help their kids with this problem is by not letting them get one or by just telling your kids to not put personal information on these sites. This is hard to do because teenagers feel invisible and feel like that nothing bad could ever happen to them.
Cyber communication does help kids become more competent as citizens of this digital age but is it worth risking their lives? The internet also helps people get jobs but who knows who can hack into these job searching sites and get their information and steal their identity.
