In her essay "The Death of the Moth," essayist and novelist Virginia Woolf examines the life of a simple day moth and the boundaries which confine its energetic habit. Upon observation of the highly energetic natural world outside her window, Woolf makes comparisons and relates that to the energy which is expressed by this simple day moth showing that the moth is not only another insect but also a symbol of pure life and energy in a simple form.
