More and more the society is showing concerns about young adults and alcohol. Some are even suggesting that the drinking age should be raised, but why? Raising or maintaining the legal drinking age would be ineffective, since alcohol is easily obtained. Furthermore the drinking and driving accidents matter is dropping among young people. So why 19? Considering the fact that an 18 year old is presumed an adult, he should be giving the choice and the right whether or not he decides to consume alcohol. Based upon those reasons , that is why the minimum drinking law should be lowered to 18 in Ontario.

Many high school students have been to parties ( at which a large number is not of legal age drinking) which involve much drinking of alcohol. Liquor is also obtained at home where an open bar is accessible without parents even having the knowledge. Others may go for drastic measures to purchase alcohol, such as acquiring a fake ID card. This is a concern for Americans where te drinking age is 21 for most of the states, "Raising the drinking age from 18 to 21 in the 1980s merely triggered a boom in the business of creating fake ID cards." Besides, it is believed that young people tend to drink because it is not permitted, the nature impulse to go against what is wrong, is the reality of adolescent life. Although the cut should be made somewhere, raising the drinking age is not going to solve any problems such as drinking and driving.
